The Process
Every single ceramic I sell is 100% unique and made by my hands!
The process starts with a lump of clay that goes onto the wheel to be thrown (that means 'formed and shaped' in the pottery world.) Once thrown, it dries for a week, goes into the kiln (the big oven) for a few hours. The first firing is called a bisque fire.
Next, I glaze (or paint) the piece. This can take around 30 minutes minutes depending on the detail and layering that I want.
After it is glazed, it goes back into the kiln for the second time for another few hours. Once I turn the kiln off, there's still about 10 hours you have to wait for the whole thing to cool down enough to open it up and take a peek at the results.
And that's how my pottery is made!
